History

The Waikato Family Centre was originally the Plunket Family Centre.  In 1996 funding for the Midland Region Family Centres was discontinued.  A group of concerned families who believed this was a devastating decision that would leave many families and babies without adequate support formed a Trust (now the Waikato Family Centre Trust) and sought funding from charitable organisation and what was previously known as the Area Health Board.  Although funding has remained a continual problem we have managed to operate a successful service since 1996.
